Why did Windows 8 abandon the start button for the tile UI? I understand that perhaps that setup might do better in a smartphone or tablet but to make people default back classic shell just to get the start menu makes no sense to me. If anything they should of had it with the tiles on the desktop versions. Sure desktop is a dying breed but there are still some people that prefer desktop over anything else. There isn't any reason for me to upgrade to 8. However, I didn't update to 7 (from XP) till I got a new computer. I view Windows 8 in the same light as Vista. I don't need to update.
