I actually agree with you about discounting both, as they both seem to be overly-sensational.  The other used pessimistic speculation to build controversy, while this one is basically an advertisement.

Just goes to show you how broken journalism is today. People complain about video game media, but the "real" media is just as bad if not worse.

That's true, but still, the great majority of articles being posted on the internet are just blog entries written by people who have no real claim to being journalists.  We call them that because we're used to associating the media with journalism but that time is long past.  Now anyone with a place to publish and a keyboard can call themselves part of one media group or another.  Especially now, when spin is certainly more profitable than truth, we need to take everything we read with a pound of salt.
