Happened to me once with my debit card. Person bought a couple PS3s and a laptop before bank contacted me and we realized what was going on. I got all my money back and just had to get a new card.
However, I figured out the best way to prevent it was to never leave an open balance on my cards. I just keep them maxed out. ;)
