The other games use tricks to get the sound tastier and stronger... so the sound seems more powerful than it is in real-life... it's better for games and movies but not for a simulation.

You can say you don't like the sound of the cars in GT5... that's your opinion and many others gamers don't like too... but the fact is PD tried to put the sound more close to real-life as possible because the GT5 is a simulator first place... that's the obective.

You can see the video below how the cars sound like the real one... it's close... there is no turbo sound like others games.


Thanks for the response, I'm not criticizing the sound really, bad or not isn't really the problem for me at all. It's just the spin he put on it, he should have just been honest as he was asked directly about the sound. His response of turning it into a positive simply doesn't wash.

If it wasn't a problem, the interviewer wouldn't have asked.

I'm not saying he was being arrogant in this interview but there is a certain elitist quality to it. Which really isn't needed, It's hard to know if that is because of english not being his native language and thus words that don't sound natural being used.

Interviews like this are a chance to put the record straight, concede failiures and talk about positives together. If it was a press release before release of the game then I'd fully understand - nobody wants to write off their product before release in any way at all and there obviously shouldn't be any negativity.

This was an interview after the game has been released and it could be a chance to show a humanistic side and say sure we did a few things wrong, we're going to look into those for next release. That didn't come across at all in the interview, although he did mention looking forward to the next release it would be nice just to know that real people work at Polyphony Digital.

Would you suppose he talks like he does in the interview in real life when at home? That was why I made the comparison with Peter Molyneux. He may give some bull before a game is released but afterwards he's very ready to talk about what went wrong, what went right, and an honest down-to-earth bit of conversation.
