I don't think price matters that much, if people want a game they'll buy it, regardless of price.

No, perceived value is quite important. i.e. I won't pay $30 for that bird game on the 3DS. $3, sure.

Aren't you also saying Vita needs to drop the price to sell because people won't buy it at the current full retail price?

That said, it's much more important for games to sell well and early when it's still at full price. Nintendo just don't count. They play by different ruleset.
