Actually, Vita is in the same generation as the 3DS, but both should not be considered the same generation as consoles. 3DS may have the most million sellers but the Vita really hasn't even been available in the US for 12 months so that isn't anything to hang the hat on.

No I doubt that. Part of the key to the hand held market in NA is to aim for the youth and family friendly affairs along with traditional offerings. Sony didn't seem to pick that up with the PSP and Vita is pretty much the child of Sony's stubbornness and the success the PSP had in Japan and parts of Europe thanks to Monster Hunter and a few PS2 developers latching onto to it. The Vita probably won't be that fortunate and outside of this year and a few Japan exclusives you can't guarantee on a good crop of exclusives for the system.
