I can't stand this justification for Nintendo's gimping of their hardware for recent consoles just to save some space and cater to the allegedly square foot - challenged Japanese.

If the average Japanese home is so snug and space is at a premium, then explain how they seemed to have no problem fitting this monstrosity in their living rooms...

 

they probably have bigger hobbit homes than the small hobbit homes most have in Japan. Bigger homes are usually fewer in numbers

also the PS3 is a perfect chair with butt heating in the winter times for the little guys
