Yeah, that is definitely part of it. My tracking spreadsheet says I've bought about 90 things this year for a total of around $500... and that money total more than double over the last week thanks to black Friday.
Some of my achievements this year are getting paid $45 to own AC3 and also getting paid $45 to own Prototype 2.
The bad news is the thing I was in that got me a bunch of free games over the last couple years ended in like March.
