The main reason I got it was for the PS1 back catalogue. I wanted a bigger screen for playing the PS1 Classics than the PSP screen. And because I live in the EU I don't have access to many of the games that were not released in the EU, and were therefore not on the PS European stores.
This was an opportunity to create a US PSN account and buy the PS1 games that never came out in my region and play them on the handheld. I could've done it on the PSP or the PS3, but the Vita seemed like the perfect device for that. I'm not sure what to tell you if you do live in America and you have access to all those games anyway. But my primary goal was the PS1 Classics, and obviously games like Persona 4 (when it comes out) and other games.
