I think you would understand his rash statement better if you were on PS+. If you have PS3 and get PSV... it is quiet foolish to not get PS+. You are focusing on not owning the games permanently, but you are forgetting that all games, DLC, etc get 10-20% discount with PS+ so if you buy enough content digitally, then you will spend less money with PS+ than without. There are also tons of games with 1-hour trials so you don't have to rent games just to try them.

The value equation is heavily stacked in favor of getting PS+ than not... if you own a PS3 + PSV, or even just a PS3 by itself.
