Valve has the resources to make a move. With estimated equity at around 2.5 billion dollars, consistently improving revenues through Steam, as well as multiple blockbuster franchises. I would love to see Valve enter the console market.

if it was sony and/or valve i would probably stick with sony.

but if sony has to back out and i have a choice between nintendo/MS/valve.   ...valve in a landslide.
