I'm wondering about this "essentially sold out" thing, as many stores still have their unique bundle offers for sale. Are these bundles packaged together or are they just taking the individual products and grouping them together? If the latter, then there are probably a lot more Wii U units in the wild than it would appear at first blush.

My guess is that the profit margin on the Wii U is so low that a lot of stores are trying to turn a profit by forcing consumers into buying the bundle. This would probably explain why Amazon doesn't appear to be very worried that they don't have the Wii U for sale.
