I am a huge God of War fan (all three of the main series games are in my top 50) but it's starting to get stale. They've really done everything they can do with Kratos and now they're just milking him for all he's worth and refusing to bring in a new character and setting like the series needs.
Beyond looks great from what we've seen, but what we've seen isn't much. And Quantic Dream is pretty hit and miss for me: I love Heavy Rain, but I'm not really a fan of Indigo Prophecy.
Last of Us, on the other hand: Naughty Dog has been consistently excellent for the last 15 years. I love Uncharted, and it clearly takes some inspiration there. The characters are deep, the setting is interesting, the AI is actually intelligent. I see nothing at all to dislike, and a great deal to love. |
I always thought that Ascension was being made to set all that stuff up..
I hope Sony only makes 1 God Of War for PS4 and then maybe Santa Monica can Tackle Heavenly Sword to get the franchise to where it needs to be

I don't agree. Heavenly Sword ought to just be left to die; one heavy brooding hack and slash franchise is enough, and God of War is infinitely better.
But it needs to change, and I think Santa Monica could do with a break from the entire genre. Look at Naughty Dog and how they excelled when they tried something a little different.

That's exactly why I want them to tackle heavenly sword. They know what they are doing in that genre. It doesn't have to be on the same level as GOW. It can keep its own identity. They could make 1 GOW and Heavenly Sword then move on to something new.
I also hope that Naughty Dog make just 1 Uncharted then move to making 1 Jak & Daxter while the other half of the team do a new game. I just want atleast 1 quality game from each franchise on PS4. 1 quality Parappa The Rapper, 1 quality Uncharted, 1 quality Ape Escape, 1 quality Twisted Metal, 1 quality MediEvil,1 quality Ratchet & Clank etc
