if people are forgiven because they are sincerely sorry they killed/raped someone then everyone gets one chance to do something like this without being punished!
yeah that does not work! you know its wrong and you know what will happen if you do that wrong but you are taking a risk of aether getting away with it or getting caught. so getting punished scares other people and so less crime will be committed!
