matchmaking works just like anything else, miiverse is really impressive, I was not sold until I started using it and was really surprised.

Does it have cross game chat or private chat?

no cross game chat yet, dunno about the future, just msgs or wii u chat so far I believe. so much potential with 1GB OS RAM though.
