At some point, people are going to get tired of buying the same Nintento games on a Nintendo console and then Nintendo is going to have a serious problem.

Not so sure that the 3rd party idea is such a bad one. There are 10's of millions of people who would love a ton of Nintendo games to be able to play on their one console....people unwilling to buy tons of consoles.

When people get tired (if it happens) then they should think about it but, right now, why turn your back to hardware if you're making money? It sounds stupid.

"We made a lot of money but lets get out of the hardware business because people will get tired of playing our games on our consoles"

What makes Nintendo is their ability to research and develop their own controller and how to use them and at the same time pushing the industry foward. Going third party would kill that creative freedom forcing Nintendo to design games to platforms that might be restrictive or just plain traditional. I can see Sony and/or MS following that route due to their lack of creativity when it comes to game input.
