Forza absolutely owns the visuals in the racing genre

Well, GT5 photo mode looks just as good, if not better. Not the best examples, because that's not really how the game-play looks. Forza Horizon, from what I've seen in-game, is just about as good as racers have gotten on consoles, though.

GT5 photo mode only matches when in the special environments. NOT when in photo mode during a race you had. The scenery gives it away even in photo mode on GT5. Cardboard trees, or less detail in scenery textures. Cars though are the same.

However something that eclipses all else in photo mode is Forza 4 Autovista mode. Take a photo in that mode and GT5 doesnt have an answer. The car models there are unbelieveably detailed in realtime.

As I've said, photo mode isn't representative of the actual game (not for any of them: Forza nor GT), so I give it far less credit. It's like PR bullshots, or claiming fully super-sampled, anti-aliased PC screens are console images.

Since you are someone that wanted "real game-play" shots to be used, you can hardly argue that those type of screens are true representations of the game.

I agree with you. I was simply discussing a point you brought up?!

Anyway, yes Horizon is the cream of racers in gameplay.

Leading back to my original statement, Forza absolutely owns the racing genre visuals.
