I work at an FYE, and while majority of the store may very well be DVD, it is only because many of what is available on that format is not yet on BluRay. First question usually is "Is this available on BluRay?", its still doing the slow shift, just as VHS did to DVD. Do you think all those BluRay players where purchased for their DVD funtionality? I think not.

I'd point out that Blu-ray is behind DVD in the "Top 200" tracking polls... and by quite a bit... and that should be more favorable to Blu-ray then not.
Worth noting Blu-ray players are
A) Just about the only thing you can buy now a days.
B) Upscale DVDs.
Blu-ray's unprecedented stagnancy generally goes untalked about here only because this is a videogame website.
All other "conquering formats" have long past left their predecessor at this point. Blu-ray... hasn't even gotten halfway yet.
I mean, a Videogame charts esque pie charts might explain this best.
That's around where Blu-ray has stayed FOREVER. 22-29% of the market on any given week.

According to Wikipedia the sales of BluRay are right on track, and seem to be moving at slower pace than DVD's take over only becuase of the recession. Sales on movies and the like are down overall. HD TVs are being adopted more and more, but BluRay is dependant on that market as well. The bigger the blockbuster the better the BluRay sales it seems, as stuff like the Dark Knight, Star Wars, LotR skyrocket the sales faster than other formats.
Adoption rate will pick up as we stabalize the economy, sales reports show it has only been going up.

Using Wikipedia as a source isn't really the best idea.
