My #42, as partially guessed by Kresnik, is The Last Blade.
I missed out on this when it first came to arcades and then the Neo Geo home console, but I was able to play it on GameTap. Just a brilliant, balanced, gorgeous fighting game. The coolest part of the game is that it allows players to select a mode of attack before each match: speed mode for fast and deadly combos; power mode for slower but more devastating moves. If it wasn't for SoulCalibur, this would probably the best weapons-based fighter ever.
