Forgot about this for a few days, for those interested:

What was great about this was not only the sidescrolling beat-em-up gameplay, which was as good as Final Fight, Streets of Rage etc, but it also threw in Spider-Man and Venom web powers, including swinging, climbing buildings etc.  Had branching paths in the story depending on who you wanted to play as at certain points, plus the story, while the comic it was based on was utter crap, as far as storytelling in games go at the time it was amazing, telling the story through comic-style cutscenes

It has an all star cast with loads of characters from the Marvel universe, both good and bad, you could call in some of them for assists during battles.

I miss this style of 3D platforming, Underworld came after it, but this games story as well as settings were better, not to mention better puzzles and boss battles.

We all know what it did for 3D platforming.

SSFIV is technically better, but SFIV is what brought 2D fighters back into style, and SSFIV more an extention anyway.

Original red/blue, amazing for the time.  SKipped right from that to Platinum, what a disappointment that was.

Good picks, KylieDog! I remember renting Maximum Carnage from the local video store. That was a ton of fun.
