Haven't glitches always been the norm?

not really to the point where a game is unfinishable, that kinda just happened a bit more frequently since the era of patching has come. Ok there are notable exceptions to this such as Space Station Silicon Valley on the N64 that games true ending is not possible without cheating due to a bug.

That's nice. But I haven't played many recent games that are impossible to beat, though some of them have rather avoidable game-breaking bugs when the blue moon shines in the flourescent orange skies.

Must be because I play Nintendo games more often than most people I personally know. I only enjoy a handful of PS360 games, and two of those have Batman as the main character which constitues as cheating.

Nintendo only games? Skyward Sword has a game ending bug without having your save file patched. No one is above bugs :) also... Silicon valley was on the N64

Didn't I say "rather avoidable game-breaking bugs"? Because I'm pretty sure that SS's bug was very avoidable, unlike the one in Space Station Silicon Valley's bug which was only avoidable through the use of cheats. I also said "recent games", so that really means "recent Nintendo games", which discounts anything before the Wii/DS.
