strange there was so much momentum building around x86. So Power 7 then? That is the only CPU architecture I can think of with 4 way multithreading.

Actually the AMD Jaguar supposedly will have 4 modules with 4 cores each. The FX8xxx rumoured in the latest dev kit has 4 modules of 2 cores each.
