did they really announce MGS4 or just MGS? and anyway - OXM says "see" the console, meaning the confirmed design will be revealed, not released. |
MGS4. This was LONG before MGS4 was released. At least 6 months, and I think that was the second time they suggested the rumor.
I don't doubt OXM's capacity for being a mouthpiece for Microsoft, afterall that's part of why they are the Official Xbox Magazine, but they don't always get it right and Microsoft doesn't always stick to plans. Again, look at the Surface. Microsoft was very hush-hush about the Surface. Even info on WP8 was kept close to the chest. I think Microsoft is going to keep things close to the chest this cycle. They don't need to promote the next Xbox like they had to the 360. They can (whether they do is different) opt to use a single big event like E3 to reveal and showcase it. Especially if there isn't much planned for a Fall release.
Basically, keep tight-lipped until E3. Start out the E3 presentation all Xbox 360, selliing up the fact that the entire E3 presentation will cover what's new and exciting for Xbox 360 this coming year. Then about 1/4 of the way through have someone interrupt the presentation and announce the next Xbox. At that point have the remainder of the presentation switch over to the new Xbox.
