I was merely implying that while I hadn't played it, the general consesus isn't that it is a different league to KZ or UC. As I said I haven't played it but from what I've seen SS wise and through general opinion it is on par but not ahead of KZ or UC by much at all if anything. I realise to some people it maybe their best looking game but that is becuase of course it's subjective. I just wanted to make it clear that my opinion was based on only having played KZ2/3 and UC/2/3 as those considered the powerhouses on the PS3. Having played those I consider Halo 4 easily on par with them and I've never been one to praise Halo's graphics as being stellar (at least not that I can remember). People are downplaying the game without seeing it in motion for themselves which is silly. I've been playing the game on a 80" projector and its simply gorgeous with the only fault being some jaggies in the odd places of the game. The start of mission Requiem is stunning... |
I'm on my 2nd play through now, also on a projector. Yes it looks great but I haven't had as many wow moments with Halo 4 as in other games. Killzone 3's ice seas is about as immersive as a game can get, best jetpack use I've seen. Uncharted 3 from rough seas onwards is amazing. Uncharted 2's building collapse, I killed myself on the spot to replay that section a couple of times before moving on. The train sequence with the dynamically changing background is a technical marvel.
Halo 4 certainly looks the part but there is not all that much going on and during general gameplay it starts to feel a bit repetitive. The scale is great but the open floating platforms in a big hollow empty area theme is a bit overused in the 2nd half of the game.
The metal indoor areas and especially the lighting on metal surfices is the best I have seen. Although the insides are pretty empty overall the stylized look makes it all literally shine. The outdoors are OK, the crash site, rocky areas, jungle, desert, have all been done better. Cutscenes and vistas are top notch though.
Anyway good enough for a 2nd playthrough. I'm enjoying it the same as Killzone 3's and Resistence 3's single player campaigns.
