On a side note...

Why was RE4 great? Because it was a risk and a new direction, it breathed new life into the series. Now this doesn't mean that the prescription to keeping a franchise fresh is doing something completely radical or that staying the course is harmful, but its clear to see when developers are too timid to tamper with the formula.

Call of Duty 4, while a sequel in much the same regard as many of these mediocre titles put war in a new template of time and location as well as innovated online co-op and gameplay. It was a subtle balance of improvement and innovation. But unfortunately for most FPSs they're stay good only so long as something better doesn't come out.

2: Stop trying to force photo-realism down my throat until you can get out of the uncanny valley. Work on style and presentation instead of just pixels and bloom.
3: Try something weird and new, and hope we like it.

You'll cut costs way more than you cut revenue, and thus increase profit.
