Unless they invent a new TV plug, or allow for dual HDMI cables to be plugged in to brand new 4K resolution TVs or something, they technically just can't do 3D 1080p @ 60 hz. Not enough bandwidth to do it over HDMI.

Bullshit. HDMI 1.3/1.4 has 10.2gbps. 9 gbps for 1080p 3D at 60Hz per eye with 24 bit color is required

Christ man, you are talking theoretical VS real life. Yes, HDMI cable can do 10.2 gbps. Bravo you can read off your HDMI cable box.

However to do that it needs an HDMI chip which runs at 340 mhz of badwidth. This does not exist for commercial use. To do 1080p@3D, you need 297 mhz. 300 mhz chips just appears (due to 4K TVs)

BTW here are some links for you to read up on

Here is the HDMI 1.4a spec - http://www.hdmi.org/press/press_release.aspx?prid=120

No 1080p@60 3D anywhere in sight.

Here is a few more threads where people are talking about this

HDMI will support 3D 1080p@60hz one day. (most likely when they announce the 1.5 standard) But not in the next 3-4 years...
