They just rebranded it because the past failure left a bad taste in their mouth.

It has a lot of the specialist components like the texture units stripped out tho. And the point of Larrabee was to get into the dedicated GPU market which they have abandoned completely. They have decided to compete with Nvidia from the bottom instead lol. 

The main compute is effectively the same and the design follows the same paradigms so it can be considered the successor I guess. The main parts of larrabee like the memory architecture and cache are still intact as well as the many in-order X86 cores.
