Even in spite of the satirical nature of the OP, I have to point out that the PS2 was actually a casual console. It sold as well as it did because it was an affordable DVD player. For many owners, its primary or only function was as a DVD player. Sony repeated this strategy by making the PS3, another casual console, a Blu-Ray player.
