How good is Jak & Daxter?

However Jak 2 so far (couples hours of playing) i'm not really enjoying it. The car based gameplay they added is not hard (why are people saying this game is hard?). It's just tedious and annoying.

The hover car parts are the easy bits, I had the most trouble with the turret sections and some of the on foot escape scenes. Once you get the hang of the hover cars it's pretty fun to race around the city.
