Honestly claiming there is a bias only highlights your own bias. There is a rather simple explanation beyond bias. Last year first person shooters were living up to a higher quality then their counterparts in other genres. Thats not necessarily the case every year.

Two of the previous four years it has been God of War, and Prince of Persia that took home top honors. In years prior to that here are some titles that were not first person shooters that took home top honors. The Sims, Diablo II, and Zelda the Ocarina of Time. Strange that isn't it?

Having reviewed all the previous years awards. I can adamantly say I see no bias at play, and tastes haven't shown any sign of swinging. When first person shooters are the best a particular year they get the nod. When some other game in some other genre is the best it gets the nod. Snide remarks of contempt aren't proof. I highly recommend you take some time to research a particular awards ceremony. Before you berate them for a perceived bias.
