"As most of you will know Australia is currently being governed by the British Monarch."

That's actually quite hilarious, not even the UK is governed by their Monarch. They are governed by an elected Prime Minister and parliament; I was fairly sure Australia had a similar agreement, guess I was wrong.I would say it sucks to be Australia, but I have heard the country is actually really nice. It probably wouldn't be a good idea to overthrow a government for making your country nice, only to replace it with one who could potentially divide and destroy it.

Whoever said that is wrong, the Queen is the head of state, but has little to do with the government. This is the same in all commonwealth countries, that still recognise her, as head of state. She is a constitutional monarchy, meaning a parliament still rules the country, she is just the face of it.

Australia has an elected parliament and a elected senate, they choose to have the queen as head of state. Britain doesn't rule over them at all.
