It's not that Sony has a say in it.
3rd parties were still releasing games on PS2 and all Sony had to do was crank out the systems and count money.
The same is happening with PSP/Vita. PSP is still getting new big games from 3rd parties, specifically in Japan. All Sony need to do is keep shipping those PSP systems and count money.
PSP Go had no 3rd parties support and its life was cut short, very short.
PS3 will continue to be sell for a while since it's still selling very well. It will get new games from 3rd parties even after PS4 is released. It will continue to print money.
It's the market that dictate what stay and what go. Not Sony.
