The bus from my town to the town where my school is takes 25 minutes, my sister can drive there in less than 10 minutes. Most of the route is on a single road in the country.

Why not just pass it before or after its stopped... unless single road literally means single lane and there is no way possible to get around it

That's not too uncommon.  I grew up in a small town where that was often the case and even in the Dallas area that are a few places where it's easy to get stuck behind a bus you cannot pass.
