I will say GT5 will end up as the third best selling. Not bad, considering the more "modest" people here were predicting this to be the lowest selling GT by far lulz.

http://www.polyphony.co.jp/english/list.html

If you look at the data, current 2nd and 3rd are very close, compared to other couples of consecutive rankings, so GT5 ending up either 4th or 2nd is a lot more likely: this because it could reach 4th place with its forces and a normal rate of bundling but still be very far away from 3rd and not worth additional efforts to sell more than its natural possibilities, but should it reach 3rd place, 2nd would be much closer, so it could be worth for Sony and PD to pump sales up with special and/or budget editions and heavier bundling.

Anyway, at this point 4th place should be quite easy to reach, but we'll have to wait and see how better than this it can do.

750k between them . That is plenty of space.

Yes, the current gap between 3rd and 2nd is 750k, but should GT5 become the new 3rd ranking, it would be the worst case, of GT5 almost stopping selling just after conquering 3rd place. And yes, the average possible new gap between 3rd and 2nd, should GT5 become the new 3rd and stay there, is higher than 375k, because higher sales are more difcult than lower ones, but it's still lower than 750k. It's not granted, obviously, but amongst all the possible new gaps, the one between 3rd and 2nd is the smallest, and probably the only one that could be filled with special editions and heavier bundling (heavier, not heaviest, as bundling GT5 with EVERY PS3, Sony could obviously push it even to 1st, place, but I don't think they'll do it, they surely want to keep the GT franchise strong and well known, but bundling it too much the perceived value could be damaged).
