"As I've said many times in the past, a strong Apple is good for the tech industry"

???

Tbh honest Apple might have contributed to marketing (but not really in the tech dept.)

I don't see Steve Jobs or Jony Ives as modern Teslas...

Apple basically invented the modern smartphone market. Does that count for nothing? Before the iPhone, Blackberrys and awful Windows Mobile phones were the standard. Two years after the introduction of the iPhone, nearly every new phone used Apple's slate-style of phone with integrated app store, capacitive screen, etc.

And then there's the iPad...

exactly - they created a segment - nothing new tech-wise though

Yep. Created a segment out of thin air. No tech involved. Like those shoryukens.

anyway i made my point - you boys try and come up with a real tech contribution to the tech market

until then - it's all marketing and you have been marketed

Riiiiiiiight. It's all marketing. The fact that they completely revolutionized the smartphone market by building a smartphone that wasn't a piece of shit (and trust me, I owned both Blackberrys and WinMob phones before the iPhone released) is just "marketing". The fact that they were the first to use capacitive screens in a useful manner... Marketing. The fact that they sought out Corning to dig up a 50 year old unused patent in Gorilla Glass... Marketing. The first useful built-in app store... Marketing.

You're the one falling sway to marketing here... The kind of marketing that runs rampant on internet forums, the kind of marketing more commonly referred to as fanboyism.

There are plenty of Apple products I either have no opinion of (iPad Mini) or flat-out think are stupid (iMac and the lack of traditional PC tower model) but to call their success purely marketing is a gross understatement of what they've done for mobile computing in the past ten years.

you guys are completely confused - when you guys buy books with "Steve Jobs" in the title - don't you have to find the business marketing section first ?

(lol)
