Well Halo is holding on to some pretty old fashioned gameplay mechanics. You gotta realize that.....but that's what people like about Halo I guess.

I think the only reason they don't go more COD-style with the gameplay, is because they know they can't do it better...and they're right. Stick to the formula that works for you.

Kids are growing up with Call of Duty, and I expect to see future Halo games get critisized even more for this.(from both critics and gamers) Call of Duty gameplay is the standard these days. People need to accept that.

No...that's not the only reason. It's called Halo for a reason. It's not standard or expected for a game to just blatantly copy elements from another game if those elements hinder the experience.

In Call of Duty, the ADS mechanic dramatically changes the gameplay. The only way to shoot accurately in CoD is by ADS. Unfortunately, when using ADS, player movement slows to nearly walking. This slowed movement does a lot of things. For one, it makes battles ridiculously shallow. For example, in  CoD, battles are basically just aiming and shooting for a few seconds until someone drops. On the other hand, in Halo, players are free to move and gun battles incorporate a sense of dodging and platforming making every encounter seem more dynamic.

CoD elements like lower health, extremely accurate guns, etc. are also mechanics that many people (including myself) consider inferior gaming mechanics.

So, to say they don't want to copy CoD because they are afraid of being outclassed is flawed because it assumes that they want to have a CoD style in the first place.
