To be fair Sony does do pretty well outside of America, Europe, and Japan. http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/Hardware/ROW/ Sort the sales by 'Rest of the World' PSP did some incredible numbers, and for the PS2 it's even bigger then Japan.

I'm not saying China will be the same but we never know, it could make a huge difference (sales wise) or not, but there's gotta be a start and this is the PS3's start, it could lead to something much bigger.

Oh I'm sure they will do just fine in china.  Who knows they could end up being the biggest console in China but it's very doutful they will come out of the gate dominating a market that already has both nintendo and MS there along with other consoles.
