They make profit if they sell. And since 4th quarter of 2011 PS2 shipment has been on decline, the reason is because of PS3 price cut in 2011. So the difference between PS3 and PS2 price is becoming less and less, and people would rather buy PS3 or 360 even in devoloping countries.
