His point still stands. Despite how many people are in poverty there's still a big european country of a market there, meaning a lot of potential.
To expand: If only 5% of the chinese population are potential customers that's 65 million people. For reference the UK's population is 63 million, and it's also worth noting that the UK is the 2nd (or 3rd, not sure) biggest market for gaming.
