You're forgetting the fact that average salaries don't mean shit in a country as big as China. Their middle and rich class literally consist of hundreds of millions of people. Sony is targetting the elite, not the average Chang. PS3 may well become a success when rich parents buy this premium product for their children.

Damn good point. What matters in China's huge population is that if 25% of it's 1.3bn people are in Sonys market range that that's more than the population of the US.

China is now the highest consumers of luxury goods in the whole world. 25% of all luxury goods are bought in China. This won't be the case if everyone earned peanuts.

I have no idea how many PS3's they will sell there but the numbers will be interesting.
