Since the dawn of human civilization there has always been a group of elites who held a lion's share of the wealth. Through the attainment of more wealth the elites gain more power and more control over the masses.
People go on about the top 1% elites. But it is the top 1% of the top 1% who own and control most of the wealth.
0.0001% of the population would be regarded as the illuminati aka the enlightened ones.
