If you have pre-ordered the highly anticipated title ‘Halo 4′ then you are not alone. Reports are coming in that the series has reached the 46 million mark, making it one of the most successful franchises of all time.
46 million copies of Halo games have already been bought according to GameStop. Those sales include all the Halo series titles and spin-offs since the first game debuted in 2001. With $3 billion in sales, Microsoft has struck gold and an important chord with hardcore gamers, making one of the best series in gaming.
Halo 4 is shipping out in just a matter of days and with pre-orders and limited editions selling out in major online retailers, that number is only going to get higher. Halo also has an impressive line of toys, books, collectables and more, all of which are not included in the final totals. $3 billion in just games, that’s something that ever developer and publisher dreams of when they get into the gaming industry.
Gamespot posted some impressive launch day stats about the series stating:
Microsoft went on to break down the launches of past entries in the franchise, stating first-day sales of Halo 2 hit $125 million, with Halo 3 notching $170 during its first day, and Halo: Reach besting that game with more than $200 million in sales during its first 24 hours.
The limited edition of Halo 4 has been sold out online for weeks but you can still pre-order the game or the Xbox 360 Limited Edition console on major sites like Amazon.
