Oh man, such a fanboy post. First post an anecdote, from your own site which you do not bother to link. A link for those statistics would be also nice. You know, like we would have something concrete to analyse. Also, have you even considered why ms is entering the tablet race? They want a slice of the market. If and when (imo) ms deals a crushing blow to android/ios on this market, do you think that there will be a) more software developed for android/ios or b) less software developed for androidIios? In case your answer is a, I would like to hear how do you figure that out? I take that you don't have a magic crystal ball that tells you the future? Some links to some statistics: http://gs.statcounter.com/#os-ww-monthly-201110-201210 http://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10 |
ROFL. "Fanboy post"? Dude, I fucking work in this industry. I don't care which platform succeeds or fails, it's all the same to me. The "mobile revolution" is actually a pain in my ass. It intensifies the amount of platforms I have to support and the number of browsers I have to cross-check.
And I'm not linking the statistics to one of my personal sites nor am I going to post statistics for my cliients' sites. I don't feel like getting fired today. Besides, I can't just "post" my statistics. I'd have to tear them out of GA and/or screenshot them. I'm not doing either.
Those graphs support my own observations. 95% of my site's traffic (the site I used in my example) comes from the US and Canada. On top of that, the userbase is highly educated and well-off. I fully expect my stats to be trending far above and beyond those of general web stats, though general web stats are also trending toward mobile, just not at the same percentages as my own site.
It's pretty damned clear who's the fanboy here and it sure ain't me. I don't give a flying fuck who "wins" this battle. I'm going to code for whichever platform comes out on top no matter what happens.
