Yikes.
I had a few Panasonic TVs over the years. They weren't too bad. A DVD player that was pretty good too.
All in all, I think we're in the middle of seeing a changing of the guard. If the Yen stays where the companies don't want it to and their demand doesn't rebound, the Japanese companies will end up cannibalizing each other's profit margins for what little room remains. Sharp got their bailout, but I don't think they're going to be able to survive. Panasonic sounds like they're getting kicked in the teeth. Sony needs to handle a debt load that would make some small countries wince. Samsung and the other South Korean companies are rising to a rather frightening level of dominance in the electronics arena. Might we see a future where Korean electronics are king?
