This. The tragedy of the prequel trilogy is that I can see the story that Lucas was trying to tell, and its a good one. And it isn't all about Anakin and the Jedi either. Its very political about the fall of the republic and the rise of the empire. But as a director, writer, and storyteller, he sucks, and I actually believe that he's always sucked. The weakest of the OT is a new hope, and is the only one he personally directed.
I have very high hopes that someone somewhere down the line will say "You know what needs a remake? The prequel trilogy." And it will get rewritten, remade, and actually be awesome, instead of the horrible clusterfsck that it is.
