You're assuming he will still be the main character...maybe in this trilogy Luke would be the equivilant of Ben Kenobi in ep 4 or Qui-gon Jinn....the elderly sage-type character who explains things (like the force) to the young protagonist (and the audience)...in that context an elderly Luke Skywalker would work.
