This is just a natural progression of things, when people see how many Xbox next start to be sold because of this type of model,i bet u one of the other competitors will follow suit MARK MY WORDS and a lot of peeps on here will eat CROW.

Go to a store pay 3-4 hundred dollars for a console one time i am sure lot of people will do that but what about the ones who can,t?only 99 dollars down and monthly payments an untapped pool of consumers for consoles.

Here in my country u can take out a console on HIRE PURCHASE,pay 25,30 dollars a month adds maybe 3 or 4 hundred dollars more to the overall price, consoles are hella expensive here.Go Microsoft u trendsetter

I think the problem lies in the mentality of a lot of people and how educated on the subject matter they are, fortunately for coporations, the majority are not smart enough and don't want to just save a little but want instant gratification. Nobody is saying that it will fail mind you, all it takes is a certain % of people and the business will do just fine, but those % of people are the ones fucking the rest of the people over as usual, and that's the reality of the situation. I'm slowly starting to dislike the way MS is doing business. What really is stupid is that they are trying it out in countries that don't need it first and ignoring countries like yours where consoles are "hella" expensive. It would be a shitty ass trend if it becomes a trend, but at least I can retire from gaming that way and save lots of money overall, not that I think it will ever happen to PC gaming.

You do realize PC gaming is still Microsoft?  Cause you need things like DirectX and stuff.

It's a few dollars more over 2 years to get it sooner, rather than have to wait to save up that much money.  I don't think the slightly higher price when they basically finanace and loan it to you is asking much at all.  For financing that's really reasonable and upfront.

It is for now, the difference is Windows is open so MS doesn't get a cut from those games which means on a business level, you are looking at it the wrong way, not that I dislike all of MS, I think Windows 7 is just fine, I just don't like the route they are taking due to the usual greed, and as consumers, we shouldn't be on any coporation's side, their goal is to drain as much money as humanly possible from us, that's the core that nobody should ever forget. If their products justify the cost, then of course I have no problem doing business with them, but they don't have to be Apple, they don't have to be Google, they should just do the best that they can without fucking the consumers over. Do you truly need DX? No, because there is still OpenGL. Do you truly need Windows? No there are alternatives. MS knows this, but instead of coming up with actual fixes and solutions, they want to suck the share holders' dicks instead and come up with ridiculous business models that might eventually hurt the open-ness of the PC in the long run where we as the consumers will loose, unless we find alternatives, which there are plenty even as of now TBH, just not as popular yet.

The problem I have is the XBL model, people might think, wait, that service is awesome! But in the end, you are still paying to play online, and people will keep saying things like "this is the best service because I'm paying for it!" No it's not, it really isn't, do people care about that truth? Nope. Do I care about people spending their money on it? For the most part, no, looking at it from a bigger picture though, yes. That's exactly why MS is trying to fuck it's consumers, and unless you work for MS or own 20% of their stocks, you shouldn't be taking that side at all. You can only argue reasonable and upfront if you have compared all other alternative and still say they are the best, and the only thing people are really paying for then is the cross game voice chat without an actual phone number you can call the US/Canada with unlimited minutes, wanna know how much that costs me on skype? 5 bucks per month with my own phone number, and I can actually call people on phones or on Skype and conference people together all over. There is always something better with a better value is all I'm trying to say. Who owns Skype now? Microsoft! See, I have no problem with good services, I have problems with services that are clear rip offs or behind the times.
