Even during its first year the PS3 sold about twice what the Vita is selling weekly. It also got many 3rd party multiplats which the Vita doesn't have and had a lot better first party support as well. And Sony was willing to cut the price aggressively ($100/year).
I'm not saying the Vita is dead but there's a huge difference between "not dead" and "going to outsell the competition". If you guys seriously think the Vita is going to outsell the 3DS over the next years (which has Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Pokemon and Mario) you need to give more evidence than "the PS3 sold better over time". Because the Vita is in a substantially weaker position than the PS3 ever was. This is not a "wait for the $50 price cut" thing. Even if we assume sales will triple after a $50 price reduction (which is insane as no price cut ever had such a large effect) the Vita would only sell 100k units per week going by current numbers.
