Not to get into the whole conflict about market share, but this particular point means very little. The higher end tablet market for Android is pretty dismal. Really, the Amazon Kindle is basically the market, with a possible boost from the Google tablet, so unless Microsoft is going to take the Kindle away from Android, the amount of partners isn't very important.
I don't believe Microsoft is going to take much of the casual market with the Surface, but it will be interesting to see how they do in the business tablet arena. iPads will always be more popular with kids and people who want to look trendy, and the Kindle will continue to be popular with people who only care about smaller media devices.
