I don't think R* themselves will make the game without any kind of incentive from Nintendo, which is probably only money. I remember Iwata saying last year that Nintendo will make sure to get better third third party support, even if it means investing money, but that was probably only some PR talk, so take that as you will.

Its obvious they are investing more money. They have monster hunter exclusive (probably timed) and bayonetta 2. So I can't see that being pr. It basically builds on the main point I made earlier. If they really haven't got gta v at all then they shouldn't even bother scooping up the likes of assassin's creed, darksiders or mass effect. Those developers are likely to come up with excuses later. It would make more sense to go visit konami or square enix about their big games. Japanese publishers tend to be very supportive of nintendo anyway. Just building on what they get best should be enough for them.

Thats why I am convinced it is on there. Not merely because they kept quiet so long only to state the blindingly obvious. Because it defies all sense in the way nintendo have gone about this.

I don't think Nintendo invested money on MH, maybe Tri G but definitely not 4. Nintendo is publishing Bayonetta 2 so there's that one.

But other than those 3 games (maybe just two) I can't think of any other game atm. Nintendo doesn't have a "good" (I put that loosely because I don't consider it a bad thing) record in investing money on other devs games. Nintendo have to do it in other to gather more "hardcore" gamers. They have a lot of money so I don't see why they can't do it just for GTA5 (one of the biggest games out there that is). It worked for MS in long run so Nintendo should do it at least for this one game.
